GSC Game World has announced that Stalker 2: Cost of Hope, a massive story expansion, alongside a significant Free 2.0 update, is slated for release on August 20, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

This upcoming content delves deep into the longstanding, volatile conflict between the Zone’s most powerful factions: Duty and Freedom. The narrative promises a dramatic unraveling of the fragile peace that currently defines the region, forcing players to navigate escalating tensions and determine the ultimate fate of the Zone itself.

Players will once again step into the shoes of Skif, a mysterious figure drawn into unfolding events by an enigmatic PDA signal. This new chapter is expected to deliver dozens of hours of immersive content, promising further exploration and high-stakes decision-making within the dangerous landscape of the Zone.

Beyond the narrative expansion, the Free 2.0 update brings substantial technical improvements. GSC Game World has upgraded the game to a newer version of Unreal Engine 5, moving from 5.1 to 5.5.4.
