Ubisoft downsizes AC Black Flag team in Singapore

The crunch continues across the gaming industry, with major developers making significant adjustments to their operational structures. Ubisoft is currently overseeing a wave of layoffs, signaling a period of intense restructuring for the company’s creative and development divisions.

Among the studio changes, Ubisoft has announced the closure of its Finnish studio, RedLynx. This studio is responsible for creating the beloved Trials series of games, marking a notable loss for the intellectual property that defined many of the titles in the franchise.

Beyond the Finnish departure, the restructuring efforts are also impacting other key development centers. Ubisoft is preparing for significant layoffs at the studio responsible for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, based in Singapore. This move reflects a broader effort by the company to optimize its workforce and refocus resources.

These simultaneous decisions highlight the complex economic pressures facing large-scale game development. The studio adjustments underscore a shift in priorities, as companies navigate market demands while attempting to streamline operations and adapt to evolving industry landscapes.
