The digital battlefield of Steam is currently being ruled by Wardogs, an FPS title that has captured the imagination of players with over 320,000 active users. As the game continues its meteoric rise, developer Bulkhead is not just polishing the gameplay; they are tightening the screws on the game’s economy and server stability with a recent update.

To ensure a fair and stable environment for all players, Bulkhead recently rolled out Patch 0.11. This update was focused on crucial system changes, most notably implementing strict measures against cheaters and exploiters who attempt to abuse the game’s economic systems.

The message from the developers was clear: while they acknowledge that being in early access means there are inevitable flaws, the team has decided that taking advantage of existing bugs and economic exploits will no longer be tolerated. If players attempt to farm resources or manipulate the server economy, they will face severe consequences.

The new patch outlines a detailed system of repercussions designed to deter abuse. Bulkhead detailed three specific scenarios for exploitation, each carrying a distinct penalty.

Scenario 1: Abuse of cash exploits and bugs, such as stockpiling money, will result in a temporary ban. The length of the ban will depend on prior history, and any accumulated cash and experience will be reset.

Scenario 2: Using tutorial content to demonstrate economic exploits will be flagged as “advertising cheats,” leading to a permanent ban. However, the team provided a lifeline: if a player discovered an exploit and reported it to Bulkhead on Discord or social media as an “alert,” they would be protected from permanent action.

Scenario 3: The most serious penalties are reserved for farming experience through server exploits, which the developers stated will result in permanent account bans. This is the strictest deterrent against exploiting the experience-farming mechanics.

Bulkhead clarified that while these policies are in place to ensure integrity, the studio remains open to community feedback. They indicated that these strict positions could be adjusted if enough players felt the rules were too harsh.

The developers added a note that catching cheaters is rarely instantaneous. They explained that while exploiting bugs might allow a player to get away with it initially, the backend data is designed to flag repeated actions. Repeated abuse of an exploit is categorized as deliberate misuse, rather than a simple mistake.

The tension surrounding these stability measures comes at a pivotal time. While Wardogs is enjoying massive popularity, players are currently feeling restless, particularly concerning the security and fairness of the server experience. The push for robust anti-cheat measures reflects the growing demand for a secure and equitable environment as the game continues to evolve.
