The landscape of Xbox Game Studios is undergoing a significant transformation, resulting in a noticeable tightening of the creative circle. A recent announcement regarding the restructuring at Xbox Game Studios has fundamentally shifted how major intellectual properties are managed, leaving a smaller group of teams operating under the XGS banner.

This corporate realignment means that some major franchises have been handed over to other entities, notably Activision, which is now taking responsibility for key titles including Halo, Rare, and World’s Edge. This shift signals a major redistribution of creative and operational duties within the Xbox ecosystem.

As a result of these changes, the Xbox Game Studios umbrella is now considerably leaner. Only a handful of teams retain their status as XGS members, focusing their efforts on a more curated selection of titles and creative endeavors. These remaining studios are:

The Coalition, responsible for titles like Gears of War: E-Day.

InXile Entertainment, which continues to manage the legacy of Clockwork Revolution.

Playground Games.

Turn 10, which now oversees franchises such as Forza Horizon 6 and Fable.

And finally, the Halo Studios, handling the Halo: Campaign Evolved legacy.

Beyond these core members, the shuffle also affects major franchises like Minecraft Dungeons 2 under Mojang, further demonstrating the complex web of ownership and responsibility in today’s gaming world.
