The world of gaming is filled with mysteries, but for former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, one particular omission remains a persistent enigma: why has the critically acclaimed Soulslike masterpiece, Bloodborne, refused a port or release on PlayStation 5 or PC?

During a recent keynote speech at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference, Yoshida voiced his disbelief at Sony’s decision to keep his favorite title exclusive to the PS4. As a massive fan, he openly expressed that the lack of cross-platform availability for such a beloved game felt like a deliberate mystery.

“This game Bloodborne has a lot of fans all over the world, and it still doesn’t have a PS5 version,” Yoshida noted. He questioned the rationale behind this choice, asking why Sony hadn’t offered a PC release or an upgrade for the current console generation.

While acknowledging Sony’s history of releasing numerous remasters, Yoshida pressed on, wondering about the timeline for Bloodborne‘s cross-platform journey. “I am often asked why these haven’t been released, but it’s a complete mystery,” he admitted. “Maybe they’ll come out in the future. Maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll make a special edition. Maybe they won’t. As a huge fan, I hope it will come out.”

Beyond his frustration with platform exclusivity, Yoshida also shared a touch of personal pride regarding his experience with the game. He proudly mentioned earning the Bloodborne platinum trophy, though he admitted that some of the more challenging bosses provided a considerable test of skill.

In a moment of lighthearted reflection, Yoshida joked about the journey, calling the defeat of the hell beast Watchdog of the Old Lords the “highlight of his career” while on stage.

Yoshida’s tenure at PlayStation involved shaping some of the most influential games in gaming history. He reflected on a remarkable career, having helped shape nearly 30 titles, spanning from classics like Crash Bandicoot all the way through to modern epics such as Ghost of Tsushima, alongside his work promoting influential indie games.
