Aaron Pierre hopes to be Green Lantern
The hunt for the next 007 is officially getting a superhero makeover, and the speculation is running wild. While the spy world plots its next cinematic adventure, a different kind of crossover is taking center stage: the stunning possibility of a superhero stepping into the shoes of the world’s most famous secret agent.
The seeds for this intriguing idea were sown when actor Henry Winkler shared a playful thought, suggesting that Aaron Pierre might be the next James Bond. This notion took flight after Winkler watched the British actor step into the spotlight as John Stewart, the Lantern-in-training, in HBO’s Lanterns.
The visual spectacle of <Lanterns>—where Pierre displays a perfect blend of charm and command in his trendy winter attire—has only fueled the debate. Many are already seeing the potential for Pierre to embody the gravitas required for His Majesty’s Secret Service.
The casting buzz, however, isn’t without a touch of caution. Co-star Kelly Macdonald, who plays Sheriff Kane in the series, voiced a more measured perspective. She noted the sensitivity around actors being constantly thrown into the spotlight for high-profile roles, emphasizing that taking on a Bond role is a significant decision, especially when many people are vying for attention.
While she conceded that Pierre certainly had the potential for the role, Macdonald expressed a preference for seeing him continue his journey as a Green Lantern for many years to come, suggesting a different kind of enduring stardom.
The mood remains light despite the high stakes. Pierre, who is also set to reprise his role in <Lanterns> in 2027, appears to be enjoying the attention, seemingly blocking out the noise of the spy world and embracing the creative possibilities of his current project.
Adding further intrigue to the chase is the producer behind the project, Amy Pascal. She recently hinted that the next Bond actor will be “different” and expects the announcement to come toward the end of the year, promising a surprise that will shake up traditional casting expectations.
