Arc Raiders tests PvE as groups refuse to hunt

The world of extraction shooters is constantly evolving, and now the team behind Arc Raiders is taking a fascinating step toward prioritizing community and compassion. Developer Embark Studios is currently trialling a new Player vs. Environment (PvE) mode, offering players a choice in how they engage with the world of ruined machinery.

This initiative is a direct response to the community’s growing preference for cooperative gameplay over competitive conflict. Embark has listened to the players, recognizing a significant and expanding group of Raiders who are focused on co-op experiences and exploration rather than fighting amongst themselves.

To support this shift, the developers are rolling out a toggle system during a limited beta test. Between October 13th and 20th, players will have the option to load into either the traditional mode of Arc Raiders, where human players compete for valuable scraps amidst a landscape controlled by deadly killer robots, or a modified, safer version.

In this alternative PvE mode, the machines remain formidable and deadly, yet the risk of human-on-human conflict is removed. This new setting allows players to focus entirely on survival and exploration against the environmental threats, fostering a more cooperative and less adversarial experience.

“We’re seeing a large and growing group of Raiders who come to the Rust Belt for the co-op and the ARC, not fighting with other Raiders,” a representative from Embark stated regarding the trial. “It is important we learn how to support this group properly rather than leave them working around the game.”

This move signals a commitment to adapting the game experience to better reflect the diverse interests of its community. By introducing this choice, Embark is not just testing a new feature; they are actively working to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for all Raiders exploring the fractured world of Arc Raiders.
