Fan-favorite Lantern could appear in Lanterns season 2
Following the fiery conclusion of the <Lanterns> season finale, anticipation is high for what comes next on HBO, though the road to season two remains a creative mystery. Showrunner and writer Chirs Mundy is keeping fans guessing about the direction of the Corps, suggesting that while the story can explore the vastness of space, it will remain firmly rooted in familiar territory.
Mundy has offered some tantalizing clues about the future of the Green Lantern narrative. Rather than launching into distant cosmic adventures, the plan seems to be grounding the story in a relatable reality, allowing the audience to connect deeply with the characters and their struggles.
This focus on “Earth-based” storytelling opens up fascinating possibilities for expansion. When asked about who might join <Lanterns> Season 2, Mundy pointed toward a rich roster of possibilities within the DC universe. One name that has been bubbling up is Kilowog, the bulky, pink-skinned alien who oversees Sector 674 from the planet Bolovax Vik.
Kilowog is not just another cosmic figure; he is deeply integrated into the Lantern Corps, responsible for recruiting and training new members, and he shares a notable friendship with John Stewart. While Mundy did not confirm Kilowog’s direct involvement in the next season, the introduction of Lanterns from other planets—like Sinestro—suggests that the universe of the Corps is ready for deeper exploration.
The creative team is already putting the next chapter into motion, having begun work on new stories even while the season concluded. This focus on ongoing development ensures that the world of the Green Lanterns continues to evolve.
Meanwhile, the wider DC Universe is also entering an exciting new phase. James Gunn’s upcoming <DCU Chapter One> is set to kick off the cinematic exploration of the DC mythology with the horror film <Clayface>, followed by <Man of Tomorrow>. These movies promise to weave together iconic heroes, most notably featuring John Stewart teaming up with Superman in an epic adventure.
For those eager to catch up on the action, <Lanterns> Season 1 is currently available to stream on HBO Max. Fans can continue to follow developments and explore the ongoing DC stories as more information unfolds.
