FH6 community demands studio response
Forza Horizon 6 arrived with dazzling visuals and top-tier reviews, yet for many players, the experience was overshadowed by a distinct lack of communication from the developers, Playground Games. Months of constructive feedback went largely unheard, leaving the community feeling disconnected from the live service they were invested in.
In a relatively rare move, the studio finally stepped out from the silence. Playground Games addressed the Horizon community on their social channels, acknowledging the frustration felt by players and admitting that they had not been communicating as much as they could have been. They reassured the community that they were listening to comments regarding post-launch updates and were actively looking into future changes for both in-game content and their communication methods.
However, the frustration stemmed from more than just silence. Players pointed out that the game felt heavily focused on the Horizon Festival playlists and recycled content from previous Forza titles, making it feel like the core experience was gated by seasonal events rather than pure, open-ended gameplay.
A more significant sticking point was the absence of core features that were expected in a modern live service game. In-game voice chat, a feature present in previous titles like Forza Motorsport, was notably missing from Horizon 6. This omission, coupled with the lack of direct developer response, led players to question the overall community engagement and the game’s long-term potential beyond the single-player experience.
Some commentators suggested that the lack of socialization features was stifling the game’s potential replayability. If the community engagement and social elements are not addressed, there is a genuine fear that player interest will continue to decline.
Adding to the uncertainty, the platform rollout remains unresolved. Despite timelines that suggested a PlayStation 5 release this year, there has been no official announcement regarding the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6, even as the target release year shifts further into the future. This lack of clarity only compounds the existing concerns about the development roadmap.
Meanwhile, the Playground team is simultaneously pushing forward on other major projects. A separate development team is currently in the final stretch of creating the Fable reboot. While the focus is clearly shifting between high-profile racing titles and sprawling RPGs, the parallel development of Fable shows the studio is juggling ambitious creative goals alongside their live service commitments.
