John Wick rescues a Borderlands dog in the new DLC
Gearbox is sticking to its promise, continuously fueling the Borderlands universe with massive content drops for Borderlands 4 players. The latest installment delivers a significant expansion, Story Pack 2, titled FL4K and the Last Resort, which promises to inject fresh action and narrative depth into the already sprawling world.
At the heart of this new adventure is a desperate rescue mission. Players will dive into the vibrant new tropical jungle map of Providence to aid FL4K, a Vault Hunter, in retrieving his kidnapped dog from Tediore soldiers. This quest sets the stage for high-octane action, with art director Chris Neely hinting that the experience boasts a “little bit of a Mad Max edge” and some seriously intense John Wick action.
The story pack doesn’t just offer a new location; it reintroduces beloved gameplay elements. The playable Beastmaster class, FL4K, is making a triumphant comeback, driving the narrative forward with his urgent mission. As FL4K pleads for assistance, the stakes are instantly raised: if the dog is alive, he needs help; if not, the Vault Hunter must take matters into his own hands.
Beyond the main quest, Story Pack 2 introduces a host of new adversaries and intriguing characters. Players will blast through new goons known as Deadframes, while facing a brand-new Vault Hunter named Loveless. Loveless steps into the spotlight as a tech-savvy queen, rumored to be a cybernetic hacker complete with a sentient digital virus pet, promising a unique and dynamic combat approach.
The loot opportunities are just as abundant. Gearbox ensures that players will be rewarded handsomely for their exploration, unlocking access to two brand-new Pearlescent weapons: the Astonisher Ripper shotgun and the Quadratus, a Vladof Heavy Weapon Ordnance. Furthermore, the expansion includes eighteen new pieces of Legendary gear, ensuring there is plenty of desirable loot to hunt down.
In addition to the main Story Pack 2, players can also delve into a separate expansion, Amara and the Vile Shadows. This standalone $6 purchase introduces a new replayable mission, unique loot, and six new Legendary items, offering another layer of adventure within the Borderlands world.
All these exciting additions are rolled out alongside a crucial system update, bringing the game up to version 1.10 and increasing the maximum level cap by ten for everyone. It’s clear that Gearbox is dedicated to keeping the Borderlands experience fresh, packed with new stories, characters, and legendary loot for every Vault Hunter to discover.
