“The market is sending a clear signal: more silicon providers and more OEM partners are investing in Windows on Arm because customer demand is growing for these powerful and efficient Windows devices and experiences,” notes Klaus Diaconu, Partner Director at Microsoft. This growing investment is set to bring cutting-edge hardware to consumers, with devices from major manufacturers like Microsoft Surface, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and MSI set to arrive featuring the new silicon in the fall of 2026.
But the story doesn’t end with the silicon. Microsoft is equally focused on enriching the software side of the equation, ensuring that the new platform is not just powerful, but truly functional for daily life. The focus has shifted to bringing a vibrant array of applications to the Arm ecosystem, spanning everything from STEM education and security tools to productivity suites, creativity apps, and entertainment media.
The resulting library is impressive. Microsoft tracks over 7,000 compatible Windows on Arm apps on the “Works on WOA” website, providing a comprehensive map of compatibility. Essential productivity tools, such as Sharex, Proton Mail, Signal, and Discord are now seamlessly accessible, reflecting the enthusiasm of developers building native Arm experiences.
While some legacy applications still operate via the Windows Prism emulation layer, the performance boost derived from advanced silicon and software optimizations means that these apps run natively on the latest Arm PCs. The experience is no longer about potential; it is about reality. By focusing on this expanding ecosystem, Microsoft is empowering customers with more choices, greater flexibility, and profound confidence in adopting the next generation of computing devices.
